Washington, D.C.

From Flash Gordon Wiki

Washington, D.C. is the capitol city of the United States of America. It is within fairly easy driving distance of Flash Gordon's hometown, Kendal, Maryland.

Sci Fi Channel series

In "Assassin", Rankol sends a Patriot disguised as Flash's father, Lawrence Gordon, to retrieve the secrets of rift technology from Gordon's old colleagues. The Patriot steals a car, and drives from Kendall to Washington, D.C., where he dispatches Dr. Martin Landry.

Flash and Baylin follow, driving to Landry's office at a D.C.-based think tank, Phazer Laboratories.

Serials

In "New Worlds to Conquer", the first chapter of Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars, War Department chief General Rankin assembles a group of the world's greatest scientists in D.C. Unfortunately, none of them agree on the causes of the world crisis, and the meeting descends into squabbling.

"Happy" Hapgood, a nosy reporter for the Washington Dispatch, realizes that the real story is with Flash Gordon and Dr. Hans Zarkov. Happy stows away on Zarkov's rocket ship, making him the first Washington, D.C. resident to land on Mars.
