Portage Initiative

The Portage Initiative was a private research experiment run by Dr. Lawrence Gordon and Dr. Hans Zarkov, and apparently funded by NASA. They were studying gravitations in dark matter using multiple cyclotrons, but were using data they had never seen before. In 1994, they successfully created a dimensional rift. Dr. Gordon entered it and disappeared. Shortly after, the rift collapsed, trapping Dr. Gordon on the other side.
