Orangopoids are huge, ape-like beasts native to Mongo. Orangopoids somewhat resemble the monkeys of Earth -- at least, more than the Monkey men do -- but they have a sharp horn growing out of the top of the head.
Flash Gordon is forced to fight an orangopoid in chapter 8 of the Flash Gordon serial.
