Mr. Mitchell is Dale Arden's boss at the television station WIAD-4. He cares more for ratings than the integrity of the news stories.
Mitchell first appears in Template:110, urging Dale to follow Susan Glass' example, chasing juicy-sounding leads even if they seem unlikely. He's thrilled when he hears a report that a "space babe with a ray gun" has appeared in the park.
Mitchell appears again in Template:120, when he watches Dale's Mongo news story, but doesn't believe it's real and tells her to air it for a Halloween special. Dale tells him that the threat is real, but he still doesn't believe her. Later, Dale airs the news story without permission.
